BIOGRAPHY

Monocomplex is a design studio started up in Janually 2011 by south korean designers Jangwon Cho, Eunsang Hwang, Hyunwoo Park and Taemin Kim. Monocomplex is composed of four people with each different personality with the purpose of joyful communication. It intends to perform a design play
containing ‘simple’ philosophy and sincerity in the world mixed up with ambiguity, complexity, and diversity.
The members have showed structural, formative, and experimental approach of MONOCOMPLEX with various viewpoints through interior design and
various exhibition and contest exhibit awards. They study and create new ideas in the realms of product design, furniture and lighting.
They represent various works not being bound to writer’s own thoughts through furniture, lighting, and design props that are most familiar to the public.
Their collaborative efforts have created some of the most interesting modern pieces. In the recent times, Monocomplex is in the spotlight as a one of
up-and-coming korean design studio.

MONOCOMPLEX

The dictionary meaning of MONOCOMPLEX is simplicity, and complexity.
This means various colors of results that are seen by different tendencies of designers.
And in the common works, another result happens to be made up being combined with one another.
Monocomplex pursues its own question about everything and cases that are seen by eyes and various analyses.
This establishes entity for individual and team through constant research and art working, and it wishes those to be formed as philosophy of
monocomplex itself.
It hopes that writers and the public would look at the result of simple but complex lots of subjects of the world with even view.
When one begins to work being inspired from certain thing, his or her cultural and social factors enter in the work whether he or she likes it or not.
That result makes the public try imagining lots of things.
The keyword Impulse has not that good dictionary meaning, but it can be the greatest power and momentum for team’s activities.
Too mean deliberation sometimes happen to be a risk factor that makes works seen normal, keeping one from making momentary feelings to results.
‘Impulse’ that has one not to be afraid of failing and brings about enthusiasm for creation is the keyword of Monocomplex.
This exhibition is a voice that Monocomplex let the public knows of their existence.
